Global demand for all forms of energy is expected to increase by 54 per cent over the next twenty years, according to forecasts from the US Energy Information Administration.Another long-term forecast from the EIA puts world electricity demand in 2025 at nearly twice what it is now. 
Fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas are the source of the majority of the world’s energy.They release energy during burning, but also simultaneously release carbon dioxide into the air.  These conventional energy resources are finite and the emissions harmful to the environment, hence the growing urgency to develop renewable energy sources, such as  wind, water, biomass, wood, geothermal, photovoltaic and sunlight.
