From sailing the seven seas to gathering water for the mill, wind has always been an important energy source. It has helped with food production, water irrigation, trade and commerce and morphed into aiding mankind in producing electricity for their residences and workplaces.

Wind turbines first showed up in the 19th century, and in the 20th century America’s first wind farm was built in Vermont and powered many areas during World War II. Technology advancements mean wind energy is now affordable for homeowners to power their own homes.

You can both save money and reduce your carbon footprint by using wind energy. It is cost effective to put together for your home, and a humungous wind turbine like you see on a wind farm is not necessary for residential use.

You can opt for a grid-connected of a stand alone wind turbine system for your home. When you are still connected to the grid, wind energy can produce extra power, saving your need to use the utility company’s electricity with the company picking up any slack in your total production. When you go off-grid, you actually have the ability to sell money back to the power company.

If you’re located far from the grid system, you can save money on energy transfers to your residence with a stand-alone system. Either system should involve an average air speed of about 10 miles per hour. It’s important to have a measure of the wind speed where you live, and the National Climatic Data Center can provide this information.

The types of equipment you sill need to provide your home with affordable wind energy include a wind turbine, a tower, wiring, controllers, and inverters or batteries. The rotor and generator will be mounted on the tail of the frame of the turbine.

A general rule of thumb when figuring on what type of wattage you will be needing to produce is: 1.5 kW turbines fit the requirements of a 300 kWh monthly usage wherein the average wind speed is 14 mph. Off-grid systems would need to be three times as powerful. When the wind blows high the turbine usually has an automatic speed governing system to keep it in check so it doesn’t spin too hard or too fast.

When you purchase your system there is a self-supporting, free standing tower and the more popular guyed lattice tower. The latter is cheaper and is supported by cables and earth anchors. Stand alones take batteries to store the extra power generated so that you can still have electricity when the winds are calm.

An inverter converts energy from battery to household or AC current. A stand-alone system can also piggyback with a solar cell. Local governmental agencies actually offer incentives such as rebates and discounts when you install and use these systems.

Many manufacturers produce wind turbines for the home. Keep an eye out for three and five blade turbines, the kwH produced – make sure you have enough for what you need to power, materials such as plastic or nylon synthetic materials. Some are more aerodynamic than others and the way in which your turbine is mounted to the tower.

Each manufacturer will have listed the specs for their equipment, so don’t be intimidated into thinking you need a physics degree to understand wind energy. It is affordable for homeowners now, so there’s no need to wait. Help save the planet and save your wallet with affordable wind energy for the home. You’ll be thrilled with the results!

Having a home wind turbine installed at your house isn’t really an expensive affair. It will cost you less than $200 to get one done for your house. Consider the long-term benefits, both financially and ecologically. It simply makes the investment well worth it! In areas where the average wind speed is about 11 miles per hour (and in some places even a bit less), you can reduce the cost of production to zero and have more than sufficient power to go around.

While tapping the power of the wind may seem to be a difficult feat in the past, there are a number of fantastic instructional guides out there that can make it so much easier. Learning how to build your own wind turbine is a totally achievable feat that can be done with minimal technical knowledge and minimal initial investment.

Tapping the power of the wind can be a hit or miss procedure, so it is a good idea to get educated before you start to build your device. By understanding the nature of wind you can ensure that when your home wind turbine goes up, it is in the right place that will generate the most electricity for your home. While wind may in theory be simply a mass movement of air particles, its speed and energy shows that it needs to be carefully harnessed. A well designed home wind turbine will gather some of the available wind energy without taking it all, as the turbine needs to be continually affected by the wind and not made to slow down too much. Calculations have showed that no more than 60% of the wind energy can be extracted without adversely affecting the performance of the wind turbine.

Another important consideration worthy of some thought is the patterns of the wind in the area of instillation. While a casual observer may not see any such patterns in the wind, seasons and temperatures do dramatically affect performance. Getting the balance right between low and high wind areas is also important to a successfully operated generator. Installing a home wind turbine is a fantastic and enriching project to do, both for you and for the environment. With a few simple considerations, a little common sense and much less money than you would imagine, it is possible to start generating your own electricity and doing your little bit for the future of the environment and the future health of your own electrical bills.

Let’s sum things up. If you’re seriously considering to build a home wind turbine, there are a few things to bear in mind. First, you need to make sure that you do have sufficient wind to efficiently generate wind power. Secondly, make sure that you have a solid plan in place to set up your home wind turbine. You’ll want to have a good design, sturdy materials that can withstand high winds, and an understanding of the market before you begin to set up your own home wind turbine.

People are beginning to learn more and more about how to harness the wind and lower their power bills. Wind is one of the free sources that the earth has given us to use as we please.

It is up to us to figure out how to use them. Wind is a form of renewable energy, and wind energy has been used for centuries in other countries such as Holland, which is the most famous country for windmills.

With the development of wind turbines, even small homeowners can now install their own and run their own power. This will break them free from the local power company and after the installation, they can start saving money. Plus, people who switch to alternative power could get a credit on their taxes, which will also save them more money.

Another great thing about harnessing your own wind power is that you can give some of your extra power to the power company and they will have to pay you for the amount that they use. Wind energy is a clean source of electricity, so there is no need to worry about polluting the atmosphere.

There are several companies that produce residential wind turbines, home wind turbines, wind generators, wire for hooking up the generators, charge controllers, rectifiers, and many other things that will help to transform your home into wind power. You can rely on books or plans to build your own wind turbine, or opt to have a local company install one for you.

You can check the internet to find a wind turbine installer around your area. You can purchase a system that’s ready to operate and installed by the factory, or opt to install your wind turbine yourself for added savings.

Wind turbines have been seen all over the world in the past few years where electricity lines were not available to remote villages. They can even be seen in the western part of the United States. These turbines power large communities that may not have had any before.

Winde energy involves transforming mechanical power into electricity. The wind turbines can produce small amounts of kilowatts, (less than 100), and are used for homes, pumping water and are sometimes connected to larger generators or batteries. Between 5 and 15 kilowatts produces enough energy for the demands of most residentail homes.

A small wind turbine will save a lot of money in the long run. You don’t have to alter the wiring in your home to start using wind energy.

The cost of switching to a wind turbine may seem expensive; however, considering the savings that you will have it should pay for itself in a few months, depending on the size of the wind system you want and if you build it yourself or have it installed by a company.

Once they are installed, there is very little maintenance as the parts can last up to 20 years. So why not harness the wind and lower your power bills as soon as possible? You will be glad that you did.

Wind farms are a more and more common sight in windy regions of the United States. While many people like the idea of taking advantage of renewable, alternative energy sources such as wind, most consider wind farms impractical in terms of size and cost. Fortunately, it is now more practical than ever for homeowners and farmers to install and operate their own private wind turbine systems.

Today the Federal government offers serious incentives to offset the considerable capital costs of building wind turbine systems. Best of all, the large-scale wind farm is not the only way to cash in on these valuable incentives.

Small wind turbines in the 3 to 5 KW range are beoming more popular with homeowners, but price is still an objection. Today there are incentives specifically designed to encourage individuals to purchase and use small turbine systems. These incentives are designed to make cashing in on wind turbine savings available to any homeowner or farmer.

Government Incentive for Wind Turbine Installation.

Government incentives for personally owned, smaller wind turbine installation and use are covered under the Residential Renewable Energy Tax Credit. The credit allows you to claim a credit on your income taxes of up to 30% of the cost of buying and installing a wind turbine system. The system can be installed on any property owned by the taxpayer in order to qualify.

Unlike some renewable energy incentives, there is no restriction requiring that the wind turbines be installed at the taxpayer’s primary residence to claim the credit. It can be installed on any property the taxpayer owns. This credit is defined a flat 30% of the cost of the turbine for all turbines installed between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2016. You can find out all the details by examining the Tax and Health Care Relief Act of 2008.

Additional Wind Turbine Incentives

Currently, some states and even municipalities offer wind turbine incentives in addition to federal government incentive. Those considering the purchase of a wind turbine should look into their local laws regarding any possible extra tax breaks that could make doing so more affordable.

Whether it’s a large wind turbine farm or a small wind turbine system designed for private use, the biggest obstacle to installation is usually the capital costs. Wind turbine systems tend to be expensive relative to their power output initially. Although they allow homeowners to save on energy expenses, it can take years for wind turbine systems to pay for themselves through savings. Many individuals aren’t able or willing to make the long-term investment in savings wind turbines represent.

The hefty financial incentives offered by the government as well as state and local municipalities go a long way to defraying objectionable capital costs. Today private wind turbines are more affordable than ever for more people, and in the long run, they present a huge value in terms of energy production as well as environmental protection.

Using wind energy systems may seem like a novel idea and a great way to contribute to a green way of living. It might even save you money you might think. Although some homes are not applicable for wind energy. Actually, the majority of residences are not conducive for wind energy. For the typical city home in a crowded neighborhood it would be too costly and nearly impossible to intergrate a wind energy system.

Residential Wind Turbines

Normally after installing a wind turbine energy machine most owners would still be forced to use the traditional power corporation. The wind may not always be at the velocity required to run the turbine to make enough electricity then it would be necessary to use the local electrical utilities.

Wind turbine energy generators will create more electricity with more wind. Sometimes the wind turbines will generate more electricity than the house needs, in such a case the excess electricity is sold to the utility company. This is done automatically.

Is My Home Suitable?

In an urban setting using a wind energy system is not suitable as there is usually not enough land. In a rural area with the lot sizes being much larger is ideal. Installing a wind energy system is determined by the local wind conditions in your area. An average wind speed of over 10 mph is needed for wind turbines to produce electricity.

If you are able to enjoy the benefits of making solar power or wind power from alternative energy sources systems you will see a significant savings. The savings could be as high as 90% when wind speeds are perfect. Generally the savings you realize is more than enough to pay for the installation of the wind turbine.

How Does It Help?

So even though you have to spend some cash installing the wind turbine you should see a high return with smaller electric bills. Generally speaking the life of a wind turbine is at least 25 years. By utilizing this form of clean energy you will be helping the environment.

Not only will you be generating clean energy but you will also be offsetting pollutants that your utility company releases. If residences in your area qualify for wind energy systems just imagine how that would affect the environment for future generations.

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about this product, so I wanted to put together a video Green DIY Energy Review. Folks often ask me “is Green DIY Energy a scam?” I can certainly understand the concern, I’ve been burned by some fly by night Internet operations and my guard is always up.

However, for this website I’ve reviewed over 20 Do It Yourself renewable energy packages, and I can say that this one is on the level. It is not a scam, I bought it and got instant access. You get instant access to all the material as soon as you order it.

So what do you get?

There is tons of good content in this course, and that’s my favorite thing about it. A lot of stuff out there is just a few poorly written eBooks thrown together (with no pictures!) and kick you out the door.

Green DIY Energy gives you:

*4 complete guides: two solar guides and two wind guides

*7 bonus eBooks on topics like solar arrays, tax credits, wind maps, how to install solar panels, and more.

*Seven extremely complete video lessons. I liked these the best, the videos are between 16 and 50 minutes in length and very complete.

You’ll have unlimited access as they update and improve the course.

I really do like the videos, but it’s nice to have the books handy so I can jot things down on them when I’m working in the shop. I will admit that I once tool my computer out to the garage so I can put together a solar panel while watching the videos! You will find your own way to get the most out of the package, and it helps to have resources.

So what about the drawbacks?

Sure there are some downsides, nothing is perfect. For starters, I orginally thought they would be sending me a hardcover book via FedEx or something. You will get immediate access to all the manuals and videos in an instant electronic download. You know, I like books, but what I like even better is not having to wait; I get the eBook right away. You also get lifetime access to the course material, so as they improve it over time you get to reap the benefits.

That fact that this whole course is only available in English is a bit of a drawback in my book. Now, people all over the workd are taking advantage of nature’s free energy, so I don’t know why they don’t make this course available in other languages. If you can read this review ok than you won’t have an issue.

The Bottom Line

Green DIY Energy is a great course, and I recommend you check it out if you are want to reduce your electric bill and do your part for the environment. SolarEnergySavvy.com readers have rated it 4.5 stars out of 5, mainly because of the sheer quantity of quality content you get for the price.

The typical family income has dropped considerably which has made saving money on gas and electricity a major priority. Most of us are also concerned about our environment and want to be more “earth” conscience by finding ways to produce solar power and wind energy and use only renewable energy resources. To begin to save on utility bills you need to find out which type of alternative energy works for your location. How would you like to learn how to make solar energy or build your own wind generator that would make them the main source of power for heating, cooling and lighting in your home?

Start saving money today by begining a renewable energy program in your home. We have been made more aware today of our environment and the global economy. We have less than 2% of our homes in the U.S. tapping into renewable energy sources. As a citizen of this earth we are called to preserve its resources by striving to use alternative power by at least 90%.

You are probably wondering if you have the ability to build your own device to make solar energy, you will be surprised to learn how easy it is. If you just take a little time for research you will soon learn that you can make solar energy for your home quite easily. It is hard to be sure that you are hiring a qualified supplier and installer.

There are also many “how to” guides like the Earth 4 Energy book that provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to build a solar panel or wind generator. Whether you make solar energy just for cost saving reasons or to save the earth it is really as easy as one-tw-three. You could start by installing a solar hot water system in your home. Reheating the water heater may not be instantaneous but the money you save is.

If more people would start using the earth for energy, a renewable resource, and other home made energy resources such as solar and wind power it will make a difference for our environment and a satisfying experience for the individual.

If you’re looking into renewable energy, you may be like me and plenty of other folks who were looking for alternatives to the high electric bills they’ve been paying.

Perhaps you have heard about Home Made Energy.org and you’re wondering “Is this the real deal or some sort of scam?”

After untold hours of research and completing my own successful solar panels and wind turbines, I can tell you Bill Ford has put together a package that works. If you take a look at what your time is worth, and how much of it you’ll save by following clear directions, then the guide becomes quite valuable.

Home Made Energy is a course that was made by Inventor and Energy Consultant Bill Ford, and he notes that less than 6% of the energy we consume in the US comes from renewable resources.

In fact, petroleum, natural gas, and coal account for almost 85% of US energy consumption, while wind solar, and hydro power don’t even amount to 3%.

HomeMadeEnergy.org aims to change these statistics one household at a time. They will give you all the steps you need to create your own electricity with home made solar panels and wind turbines. All you need is sunshine and wind, two things we see plenty of throughout the year.

It’s been a goal of Mr. Ford’s for many years to try to save the environment by getting rid of harmful gasses and pollutants, and he’s been a long time advocate of free renewable energy . Many people aren’t sure how they can do this, and while they may love the idea of using solar energy, they feel they can’t afford the thousands of dollars it would cost to have a solar system installed in their home.

It’s true that having professionals install brand new solar panels and wind turbines can costs thousands upon thousands of dollars, but they mechanics of these devices are actually quite simple, and can be constructed at home as a great weekend project.

Any downsides to Home Made Energy?

If I really had to dig in here, I’d say there are two small flaws:

1. Currently, this guide is only available in English. If you are not comfortable reading English, you should pass on this product. However, if you are understanding the words on this page right now, then you’ll have no issue following the easy steps in Home Made Energy.

2. It only comes as a downloadable eBook in electronic format. First, I thought I would like to have a book shipped out to me, but Bill Ford explained why they go with the eBook format. First, they are always updating the guide and taking feedback from users. Instead of having you have an outdated version, you get lifetime access to all the latest editions. Secondly, you will not need to wait for shipping, you recieve the download right then and there.

Other than these two things I’d give this product a 10. Solar Energy Savvy subscribers seem to agree, giving this product 4.5 stars out of 5!

If saving money, doing your part the environment, and becoming energy independent are important to you, pick up Home Made Energy today.
